The Spite House is an Energy Star Qualified Home with the following features:

• high-performance windows;
• tight construction and sealed HVAC ducts;
• efficient heating and cooling equipment (95% AFUE furnace & 16 SEER air conditioner); and
• energy efficient products (appliances & domestic water heater).

In addition to meeting the requirements for Energy Star, the house has an extensive green roof - to minimize stormwater runoff and reduce the energy required for summer cooling. The house is equipped with dual-flush toilets using less water than low-flush toilets.
